Nutz n’ Honey is in it’s 4th year.  We are building a pecan orchard and apiary with a goal of producing 100% organic, chemical free pecan and honey products.  We are building a pecan orchard in Texas and apiaries in Texas, Pennsylvania and Alaska.

We chose a pecan orchard  and apiary as a retirement project with strong consideration given to the health and medicinal values pecans and honey offer.  For us the choice to be 100% organic makes the bottom line about quality not quantity and priority given to health vs. wealth. 

Organic pecans and honey are a challenge that can only be met through due diligence in orchard and apiary management.  It is labor intense and often requires a willingness to suffer more than normal losses to disease, predators, insects, and weather vs. resorting to the use of chemicals, insecticides, and pesticides to achieve larger productions with minimal losses in your stock trees  and honey bees. 

Honey bees offer a greater challenge as they can travel up to five miles foraging. Our primary apiary and have placement is located off of FM 116 south of Gatesville, Texas.  There is no agriculture within a  five mile radius reducing the potential for our bees to be exposed to herbicides and insecticides or other harmful chemicals.

Our philosophy:  There is no competition, only partners and others with a like interests in growing pecans and bee keeping.  We seek information and share our life experience in this adventure.  To this end we co-op with other orchards and beekeepers to maximize our resources, technical knowledge and success.
